Make Your Wall Paper Last Long

Well, it you want to make your world map wall paper stick on the wall and shine through the years, make sure you have done your preparation well. When you are buying a wall sticker, you are just wasting your money, if you have nor prepared the base well. Therefore make sure to read this article and do the preparation work well.

Paint

Make sure you get your hands on an interior acrylic paint and not on oil based pain. The paint must nor have silicon or Teflon properties as it will not help the wall paper to stick on the walls. Moreover the paint must be cured for 3 weeks before applying the wall sticker.

Don’t use a hairy roller to paint toe surface as it will make the pain come off the points where the hairs remains. If you are planning to apply wall decals to the wall, then ensure a smooth painted finish is achieved. Once you have a dry, smooth, painted wall you MUST follow the next step.

Cleaning

This is one of the most forgotten step or is poorly executed. Cleaning the surface is extremely important, if you want to sticker to last a long time on the walls. Painted walls often end up collecting dust or grease. Therefore it is important to lightly dust the walls to make sure they are clean.

If you apply wall stickers to a surface with a contaminant it might look great for a week, a month and even multiple months, but after time, that contaminant will affect the adhesive qualities and the decal will start to lift.

To clean the walls, don’t use just any product as it can repel the wall decal as well. Rather use a soapy solution. Dry the area thoroughly and double check to ensure that the surface is clean.

Temperature

World paper wall paper will stick to the wall if applied at the right temperature. If the walls are too cold, the life expectancy of the sticker will be reduced and if it is too hot, it won’t stick all together. The optimum temperature for applying wall decals is 18 to 25 degrees Celsius.
